What is 20x20?

The 20X20 Program (pronounced "Twenty by Twenty") is a program of Sustainable Community Connections designed to help promote a shift in 20% local and sustainable action by the year 2020. These actions will help contribute to the development of more sustainable communities in the Treasure Valley.

Set your own 20% local goals for the Decade:

  • Purchase 20% of your goods & services from locally owned & independently operated businesses.
  • Ensure 20% of the food you consume is produced locally.
  • Save or invest 20% of your assets in local banks or credit unions.
  • Ride your bike our use alternative transportation 20% more.
  • Reduce your electricity and water use by 20%.
  • Allocate 20% of your entertainment to local arts and cultural events.
  • Rethink, reduce, reuse and recycle 20% of what you consume.
  • Give 20% of your contributions to local organizations.

As a SCC 20X20 Sustainer, you help to build a strong local, living economy in Idaho.  A local, living economy supports local businesses, the creation of a sustainable local food system, provides stable jobs, develops new business opportunities, promotes a sense of place and connects community members.  Think of it this way...I’m donating $20 every month to become a supporter of what I believe is critical for the community.
